JUDGES REVOLT AGAINST REID !

Judges staged an uprecedent revolt over John Reid's orders that, because of the overcrowding crisis in prisons, only the most dangerous criminals should be jailed !

Anarchy reigned as judges freed criminals, making it clear that they were only doing so because of political interference.

Other judges refused to obey Reid's orders and made it quite clear that they would continue to jail whoever they saw fit !

Judge Richard Bray at Northampton Crown Court said "I'm passing proper sentences in each case. The reason our prisons are full to overcrowding, and have been for years, is because judges can no longer pass deterrent sentences."

Even the Prime Minister turned against Reid.

"Let me make this absolutely clear," he said, "if any judge feels that a person is a threat or a danger to the public, and feels that they should be put in custody, then they should put them in custody."

But that didn't stop Keith Morris, a dangerous paedophile, facing a 14-year sentence for serious sex offences, being released on bail, even though he had been hanging around a school!

In Newcastle, Judge David Hodson said the situation was "hopeless". It could lead to criminals being freed from prison straight back into the community.

For John Reid it was the worst crisis of his career (so far!) as a string of criminals simply walked out of courts, laughing at a law that turned them free to commit yet more crimes !

Yet unbelievably, in a day which saw the total shredding of law and order, all the chaos and anarchy managed to achieve was a pitiful saving of FIVE prison places!

One notable absence in the midst of the chaos was John Reid himself, who finally surfaced at 6pm when he tried to shift the blame for the chaos onto the judges, insisting that he had not changed but only "reminded" judges of current guidelines!

The typical response of the gutless coward - and Labour ministers - always blame someone else for your own failures !
