ASBOs ARE INEFFECTIVE!

The ASBOs that formed the core of Tony Blair's policy for curbing youth crime are ineffective, The Institute for Public Policy Research has said!

The report from the IPPR reflects widespread public scepticism over ASBOs, which are widely seen as failing to deter teenagers from criminal behaviour. Some see them as a badge of pride and a sign of status. (ASBOs Ineffective)

It calls for the restoration of adult authority which runs against the idea of 'children's rights' which has been at the heart of the Government's thinking on children.

Far from promoting respect for adults, ministers have been using the opinions of young people and state-backed youth organisations to justify policies - for example plans to open family courts to public scrutiny were ditched on the basis that a poll of teenagers said they should remain secret.

But Carey Oppenheim, of the IPPR, said: 'The problem with kids these days is the way adults are treating them. Britain is in danger of becoming a nation fearful of its young people, a nation of paedophobics.

"We need policy which reminds adults, parents and non-parents alike, that it is their responsibility to set norms of behaviour and maintain them through positive and authoritative interaction with young people."

The report, Make Me a Criminal, said: 'ASBO culture can become a self-fulfilling prophecy and ASBOs for young people should be made more effective.'

But of course changing a few rules will not change the culture of violence and destruction which over decades has become seen as the norm!

And you do not instill respect into anyone without objective rational laws backed up by a judicial system in which criminals are brought to justice and punished.

But that will NEVER be done by a government which is itself corrupt and rotten to the core and uses the law as a weapon against decent honest people and anyone who dares to question their useless and destructive policies which have done so much to destroy the values of a once decent society!
