GORDON BROWN AND KNIFE CRIME!

The Prime Minister has called for the presumption to prosecute to be extended to teenagers as young as 16 caught carrying knives.

After a series of stabbings across the country, Mr Brown said carrying knives was "unacceptable" and promised to do everything in the Government's power to deter it.

His comments came just 24 hours before MPs hold a special topical debate on knife crime. (Gordon Brown and knife crime!)

The issue of knife crime was also raised by Labour backbencher Sandra Osborne (Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock) who welcomed the Prime Minister's comments since 18-year-old Laura Thomson was stabbed to death in Ms Osborne's constituency on Sunday.

The MP said knife crime was an issue which affected the whole of the United Kingdom and asked whether Mr Brown would be having discussions with the Scottish executive on how best to fight it throughout the UK.

Gordon Brown replied: "As I said earlier, we have got to take every possible measure to remove knifes from our streets."

Apart, of course, from taking REAL measures which would actually remove knives from the streets!

Measures like making sure that those who carry knives actually end up court and not just receive a caution - which most do today because it's another quick tick in a target box!

Or that the laws WHICH WE ALREADY HAVE are actually used - which most are not because, due to Labour's incompetence there is no room left in prisons - or replacing their liberal claptrap with REAL zero tolerance for crimes!

But does anyone expect that the self-serving bunch of incompetent crooks and thieves who skulk through the Palace of Westminster pretending to be "honourable" MPs will ever do that?

This is just another load of hot air and false promises from a government which has betrayed every promise it has ever made!

And the thing which is most "unacceptable" to decent honest people is a government which has allowed knife crime to flourish for years while doing nothing at all to stop it!
