JUDGE ATTACKS JUSTICE SYSTEM !

Jamie Webb - a dangerous street thug with 41 previous convictions, was sentenced to less than two-and-a-half years in jail despite a potentially deadly attack in which he beat and kicked a man unconscious!

Even though the attack was captured on CCTV and witnessed by two police officers, the CPS refused to charge him with GBH, even though it could have, simply because the victim refused to make a statement!

Had he been charged with GBH, 19 year old Webb, who began binge drinking and committing crime when he was only 11, could have been jailed indefinitely for public protection.

Instead, thanks to the CPS (which really should stand for Criminal Protection society!) Webb was only charged with affray which meant that, even though he was already in jail for two other crimes, he could still be free in two years and three months!

Judge Alan Goldsack QC, who was forced to hand down this unbelievably lenient sentence, launched an extraordinary attack on the criminal justice system.

Speaking at Sheffield Crown Court, he told Webb: "You are a very dangerous young man..who often carries a weapon and will use extreme violence with potentially fatal consequences."

"Your victim refused to co-operate with police...that should not have prevented the prosecuting authorities from bringing the appropriate charge."

"One of the responsibilities placed on the prosecution is, where possible, to bring charges that will provide the court with adequate sentencing powers."

"Because of my limited powers I'm afraid you will be the responsibility of the Probation Service much earlier than I would have hoped and they will find it difficult within their inadequate budget ... to protect the public from you."

So, thanks to the CPS, a dangerous thug and potential killer will soon be out on the streets, and the only way the public will be rid of him is when he finally murders someone!
