Violent crimes up 22 percent!

For years, despite all the lies of New Labour, Navigor has maintained that crime is rising and that New Labour was lying about the falling crime rate.

Now it turns out we were right because 18 police forces across the country have been under-reporting the amount of serious violent crime for anything up to TEN YEARS!

The undercounting came to light last October when quarterly crime figures for the 43 forces in England and Wales were published and the number of serious violent crimes suddenly jumped by 22% on the previous year ! (Navigor was right!)

Dr Marian FitzGerald, a criminologist at the University of Kent, said there had been some confusion over how to collate crime data for a number of years: "The government itself had been in serious denial for a very long time about the fact that the underlying level of serious violent crime in this country had been going up steadily but increasingly since the early 90's" !

British Transport Police Chief Constable Ian Johnston told the BBC accurate crime figures were essential both for effective police work and public confidence.

The government has admitted it did not know how long the undercounting had been going on.

Violent crime is one the public's biggest worries and one of the government's major priorities, and the under-recording was a major embarrassment to Labour.

Yet Labour ministers were still claiming that the overall amount of violent crime had not been affected and the revised figures showed overall crime and overall violent crime remained down on the previous year - even though the revised figures actually showed an INCREASE OF 22 PERCENT!

New Labour - still refusing to tell the truth even when it's staring them in the face!

But perhaps an even more important question is: what else is New Labour in serious denial about and why should we ever believe a single word they say on crime or anything else and how long will it be before they start repeating the same tired old lie about crime falling - even when all their own statistics prove otherwise ?
