JUDGE ATTACKS GOVERNMENT!

Sir Igor Judge, one of Britain's most senior judges, described government attempts to ease overcrowding in prisons as "absolutely catastrophic".

He criticised Justice Secretary Jack Straw's decision to prevent judges jailing some offenders if prisons are full. (Judges comments)

Sir Igor claimed it meant the standard sentence for rape could be cut from eight years to five when prisons are full, then increased to eight again when the number of inmates has dropped.

But he doesn't explain how the prison numbers will ever drop especially since the numbers are actually escalating!

The Government will next week embark on a campaign to persuade the judiciary to use community sentences for low-level offenders to control the prison population, which is close to capacity at 80,778.

This latest panic stricken move means that tens of thousands of serial burglars, muggers and drug-dealers will escape jail and go on to commit more crimes - even murder - but NuLab just doesn't care!

According to sources, the Ministry of Justice will also announce the creation of a new Department of Corrections to run the prison and probation services.

In the last ten years this useless and incompetent government has totally betrayed every decent honest person in this country, reducing justice to a total farce by continually reducing the time even murderers spend in jail.

Almost every day more and more instances of their total incompetence come to light, from computer discs going astray carrying highly confidential data on millions of people, to dangerous murderers walking out of open prisons - there is not a single thing they are capable of doing properly !

Now instead of REAL punishments they are simply going to allow thousands of criminals to get off with just a slap on the wrist!

This government has totally given up on protecting you!
