TARGETING THE ELDERLY!

Lord Phillips has given every thug in Britain the green light to target the elderly and vulnerable after saying that they should not be sent to jail if there are "mitigating circumstances"!

These "mitigating circumstances" could include thieving to feed a drug addiction gambling habit or drink problem which means anyone preying on the elderly could get away with just a community order!

These new sentencing guidelines proposed yesterday by the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Phillips, also set a MAXIMUM jail term of just three years for theft with force or intimidation against a vulnerable person though seven years is the highest punishment presently allowed under the law! So if a drug crazed junkie breaks into an eldery woman's bungalow and beats her half to death the MAXIMUM sentence he will now get, thanks to Lord Phillips and the Labour government, is only THREE YEARS!

Which in reality means that these thugs could easily be released in half that time, because they would get a REDUCED sentence if they pleaded guilty and would also serve only HALF their reduced three years if they behaved themselves while in prison!

Justice Secretary Jack Straw also sparked outrage yesterday after trying to blame court "over-reaction" to high-profile crimes for Britain’s prison overcrowding crisis.

Naturally he didn't mention the fact that his own government has consistently and deliberately broken its own manifesto promises to build new prisons, or the fact that there are now over 15,000 foreign prisoners in British jails which, thanks to the EU and the Human Rights Act, New Labour cannot deport!

So, rather than face up to the problems their own lunatic polices have created, they throw open the doors to thugs and yobs who will now be able to target the elderly and vulnerable with impunity, protected by the law, while the elderly and vulnerable will now be left unprotected and undefended!

And all at the behest of a Labour Government which still proclaims its commitment to protecting the very people it now betrays every day and with every law it passes!
