LONGER JAIL SENTENCES WORK !

A home Office report has finally put paid to New Labout's claims that shorter jail sentences are effective at deterring criminals.

It was slipped out by Home Office officials and shows that longer jail sentences are much more effective at combatting crime ! (Full story here)

Not that this is a surprise to anyone with a working brain cell, the only surprise is that the Home Office was actually allowed to publish it - or indeed to even start collating such a report - since it totally demolishes the claims of Labour's liberal-istas that long jail sentences are "barbaric" and fail to deter criminals !

And it is definitely a slap in the complacent, smug faces of people like Lord Falconer, who just three weeks ago announced that thousands of burglars and thieves would receive community punishments instead of jail sentences !

And it also shows one of the reasons why crime is now out of control after decades of soft liberal-istas finding lie after lie to reduce jail times until they barely exist at all !

Comparisons with convicts who re-offended within two years of finishing their jail sentences showed that criminals jailed for under 12 months re-offended again in 70 percent of cases, those sentenced to between one and four years re-offended in 49 percent of cases and those who served at least four years re-offended in only 36 percent of cases - an almost 50 percent reduction due to the longer sentences !

And it found that criminals given a community rehabilitation order were also more likely to re-offend.

But this will make no difference at all to the government who will continue to insist that there are better ways to tackle crime than sending people to jail - even if it's own department has proved that all of it's words are a total lie !

Because the liberal-istas within New Labour will never abandon their discredited dogma, no matter how many facts are presented to them, because to do so would be to admit that THEY are the ones responsible for the ever more violent society we live in, for THEY are the ones who unlocked the prison doors and let the thugs run free !
