2000 Passports lost !

The Home Office, already condemned as "totally incompetent," was facing yet another scandal last night after admitting it "lost" 2,273 passports !

In February 2004, the Home Office agency, IPS, started using Special Mail Services to provide a secure delivery service to people's homes for their passports.

However, it turned out it wasn't secure at all, since a spokesman for the Home Office admitted that people may not have been asked to sign for their new passports in areas with a low crime rate !

It really does beggar belief that when John Reid continually warns people about the dangers of terrorism, his very own department couldn't care less about the obvious danger of these passports getting into the hands of the very terrorists he warns about !

In fact the Home Office is still "losing" over 1000 passports a year !

And the sheer unbelievable complacency of the Home Office was exposed when the same spokesman said: "Before SMS came in, 3,500 passports a year were being lost, so there has been a significant drop in the numbers missing." !

But why should they worry if these passports fall into the hands of terrorists as long as they keep their cushy jobs and gold plated pensions ?

Patrick Mercer, the Tory Homeland Security spokesman, said: "This is a wide-open door for terrorists, who need a credible identity for preliminary operations such as reconnaissance and targeting - the Government has got to get to grips with this as a matter of huge urgency." (Full story here)

But the chances of this sleaze ridden, incompetent, and totally useless bunch of morons ever even trying to get to grips with the problems created by their own incompetence is next to nothing !

Because this is just the latest in a long line of scandals that this most useless of government departments has been involved in.

And until these useless officials and totally incompetent ministers like John "Broken" Reid are held TRULY accountable and sacked, the scandals will simply go on and on and on !
