Shoplifters Beware !

The Home Office has abandoned the rule of law and declared that Britain is an open shop to be plundered by thieves as they see fit !

Despite the fact that shoplifting is soaring because repeat offenders know the law is so soft that all they will get is a fine which they won't pay, the Home Office has now declared they won't even face that useless "deterrent" !

In 2004, rather than facing arrest, the Home Office declared that shoplifters would be given fines for "disorder" if the goods stolen were worth less than £200.

Now even that pathetic deterrent is to be abandoned by a Home Office which has totally abandoned public protection in favour of protecting all the scum which by their monumental ineptitude they have allowed to flourish unchecked !

Even though the Home Office recently produced a report which said that longer jail sentences actually reduce crime, this most farcical and useless of all government departments has now decided to abandon even the pretence of punishing criminals !

They have declared that shoplifters, thieves and drunks, among others, will even escape paying a fine as long as they promise to "behave" themselves for a set period, which could be as low as THREE MONTHS !

Of course they don't quite put it like that, they say that if the offenders sign an "Acceptable Behaviour Order"(ABC), the police will cancel any fine, provided of course they have actually been caught in the first place ! (Full story here)

But of course, under the Human Rights Act, if anybody DOES try to apprehend them, they are likely to be sued for "assault" !

The Home Office denied that the ABC's would replace on-the-spot fines, saying it was "just a different tool to help police tackle the root cause of anti-social behaviour."

The idea that the root cause of anti-social behaviour was a total lack of any form of punishment does not occur to those who have just thrown open the doors of every shop in the country and invited thieves to help themseves !
