TOTALLY INCOMPETENT !

Judge Timothy Nash

Judge Timothy Nash described the Home Office yesterday as 'totally incompetent' after its blunders meant he could not sentence a Russian serial shoplifter who had twice been recommended for deportation.

In June the same judge accused the Home Office of arrogance and lying when it failed to obey his order to send a senior immigration officer to the trial of the same shoplifter who should have been deported two years ago !

The judge's outburst happened because Mohammed Gaparkhoev - a habitual thief and heroin addict - was supposed to have been sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court for breaching an ASBO.

But it turned out that Gaparkhoev is still awaiting the outcome of his appeal against deportation.

That hearing should have taken place during the summer but didn't go ahead because the Home Office didn't bother to inform staff at the Russian's prison that the hearing was to be held !

Because of that blunder sentencing was again adjourned until October 9th.

Judge Nash was scathing over the incompetence of the Home Office: "The only person who has the power to get you to the asylum hearing is someone from the Home Office because you are in custody".

"No one told the relevant person that you had an asylum hearing" !

The whole affair is totally symptomatic of this government's couldn't care less attitude towards crime.

Let criminals out of jail early - no matter how dangerous they are - release over 1000 convicted foreign criminals and totally lose track of them - reduce sentences for crime or abolish them completely - their incompetence and indifference to public safety gets worse with every passing day !

And it will only get worse - unless they are held to account for their scandalous failures !
