NO MORE PRISONS !

Justice Minister Lord Falconer

Lord Falconer, the Minister for Justice has signalled an end to New Labour's lies about building new prisons - they aren't going to build any !

He said that while Labour remains committed to providing an extra 8,000 prison places over the next five years, the Government would not carry on building jails "indefinitely". (Full story here)

Since New Labour haven't actually built a single jail in the last ten years the suggestion that they would not carry on building jails "indefinitely" is ludicrous in the extreme and shows Lord Falconer's contempt, not just for the English language but for the people of this country as well !

Lord Falconer said: "There are some immediate plans to increase the capacity of the prison estate but clearly we cannot carry on building prisons indefinitely and we need to look at new approaches...sentencing guidelines must be examined as part of that."

He said offenders currently given sentences of less than a year should in future receive community punishments instead.

In other words, because of New Labour's failure to build any new prisons and the total failure of the justice system to adequately punish anyone who commits a crime, coupled with over ten thousand foreign prisoners who the EU has said must stay here, together with the lunatic Human Rights Act, fewer and fewer criminals will spend any time in jail at all - and New Labour claims THIS will reduce crime !

Already dangerous criminals are being released to kill again, the sentence for murder gets less and less as killers are allowed to plead guilty to manslaughter, vast numbers of criminals, including shoplifters, are already being let off with no penalty whatever - and NOW Lord Falconer intends to let even more criminals go free !

Under these new laws more than 60,000 criminals will be subject to these ABCs but what will happen when they simply break them - as they will - and continue offending ?

The answer is - NOTHING - and the problems will get worse and worse until the whole useless belief that softness works is totally abandoned and REAL prisons are built by Ministers who care about REAL justice !
