Terry Grange, Chief Constable of Dyfed-Powys Police, has retired suddenly after an investigation was launched into both his private life and "financial irregularities"!

One inquiry concerns misuse of a police computer and allegations that the married officer sent a number of "inappropriate" emails to a woman from his office computer and another inquiry has started into his mileage claims for work related trips. (Terry Grange quits)

It is understood the allegations against Mr Grange were made by the woman who received his emails.

Being eligible to retire after more than 30 years in the police, Terry Grange decided to quit immediately rather than try to fight the allegations.

Last night Dyfed Powys Police Authority in a statement said: "Mr Grange had indicated that he had allowed his private life to interfere with his professional role as chief constable."

And the IPCC said: "Although the chief constable has now retired, the IPCC is continuing its independent investigation into alleged financial irregularities."

One PC who did not want to be named said: "There were rumours a couple of months ago when the IPCC said they were looking into financial irregularities, but no one thought the chief might be involved."

Terry Grange is of course the man who, a year ago, said that men under 20 who had sex with children should not be classed as paedophiles if their victim was between 13 and 15 and claimed that they should instead be classed as men who had sex with pre-pubescents !

Now he is gone, testament to the corruption of New Labour which has become endemic in almost every aspect of our lives, from the MPs themselves, to Labour donors, to local councils, and to the police force, where sleaze, incompetence and greed are now spreading like a disease - a disease called New Labour!

He is gone - but how many more scandals will appear, and how many more police officers like Terry Grange will "retire" rather than be prosecuted for behaviour which brings shame upon the entire police force?
