Andrew Holland died after being stabbed in the neck

Police are continuing to question a man after a teenager died after being stabbed in the neck following a row in a takeaway. Andrew Holland was one of two 16-year-old boys attacked outside Ashy's Takeaway in Plodder Lane, Farnworth, Greater Manchester, at about 10.50pm on Friday, following an argument thought to involve one of the victims. Police found Andrew, of Trentham Gardens, Farnworth, collapsed and bleeding. Both teenagers were taken to Rochdale Infirmary where Andrew later died. A post-mortem examination revealed he died of a single stab wound to the neck. The other boy, who has not been named, remained in a serious condition. A murder inquiry was launched and house-to-house inquiries were taking place close to the scene. A 21-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder and assault is being questioned by detectives. A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "It is believed there was an altercation outside the takeaway. "One of those involved was a customer. The staff at the takeaway were not involved. "Andrew was found collapsed and taken to Rochdale Infirmary where he later died. Andrew Holland was stabbed in the neck in Farnworth, near Bolton, Greater Manchester on Friday night. Iranian national Mahmud Maksoudian, of Madams Wood Road, Little Hulton, Manchester, appeared before Bolton magistrates charged with his murder. The garage worker, who has lived in the UK since 2000, also faced one charge of assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Police found the youngster, of Trentham Gardens, Farnworth, collapsed and bleeding in the street in Plodder Lane. He was taken to Rochdale General Infirmary where he died. A post mortem examination showed he died from a single stab wound. Another 16-year-old boy who was stabbed in the same dispute remains in a serious condition at Rochdale General Infirmary. An application for bail for Maksoudian was refused by magistrates. He was remanded in custody to November 2 when a plea and case management hearing will take place at Manchester Crown Court.
