Christopher Alaneme

Christopher Alaneme was murdered in Sheerness, Kent, by five racist thugs who stabbed him in what a court was told was a "pitiless and unjustified attack."
Although Nigerian born Christopher grew up in South London he moved to the coastal town on the Isle of Sheppey because he considered it safer - a move which ultimately led to his death. (

Ironically the five thugs who murdered him were not from Kent, but were on a weekend break from London and they came across each other after the thugs had been drinking heavily and some had taken cocaine.
One of them made a racist remark about Mr Alaneme and when his white friends objected the five thugs chased Christopher, surrounded him, and fatally stabbed him in his liver. They also stabbed an innocent bystander, an off duty taxi driver, Mark Davies, who got caught up in the violence, leaving him with severe stab wounds.
At Maidstone Crown Court charged with his murder are Andrew Giblin, Peter Connolly, Terance Beaney, and brothers Sean and Gerry Duhig all from London. The court heard that the men, who all deny murder, had been staying at the Duhig brothers' caravan, and had been drinking at various pubs in Sheerness High Street before they ran into Christopher Alaneme and his friends.
Michael Austin-Smith, QC, told the jury: "This case is not about a late-night punch-up...it's about a group of five friends who, in two separate incidents, closed in, surrounding an outnumbered and unarmed man, causing serious injuries in one man, and death in the other. "These pitiless stabbings were inflicted without a semblance of justification."
But when only 20% of knife crimes end up in court, where knife amnesties come and go with no result, and even children kill each other, why should anyone worry about carrying knives or need any justification to kill someone like Christopher Alaneme other than the fact they felt like it ?
