DANNY KRUGER MUGGED!

Danny Kruger, the man behind David Cameron‘s infamous "hug-a-hoodie" speech, was attacked and ended up with a cut lip after he tried to stop hoodie wearing thugs stealing a scooter! (Danny Kruger mugged)

Danny Kruger was viewing a flat in Camden, north London, when the man renting the property saw his moped being stolen.

Mr Kruger said that two thugs were riding the scooter and "half a dozen of their friends pelting along behind."

When they caught up with the yobs they were attacked and the owner of the scooter got a black eye and Danny Kruger got a cut lip.

‘My main memory of this incident is rather horrid - the spit-filled mouth of the little rat-faced boy who punched me.

‘Short, white, in a grey-hooded tracksuit, he shouted at me with all the rage of Cain - the most astonishing indignation.'

But the speechwriter, who has now left the job to run an arts group for prisoners, defiantly defended Cameron‘s speech despite being beaten up.

‘Love is a neglected crime-fighting device.

‘Of course we need punishment, both for its deterrent value which is clearly effective in many cases and for the sake of natural justice,’ said Kruger.

‘But for an increasing number of kids, punishment is actually the fulfilment their pain is seeking.'

Tory Camden councillor, Keith Sedgwick, has also been attacked by thugs.

He was mugged when first elected and recently threatened by teenagers near his Gospel Oak home.

But furious Cllr Sedgwick slammed Mr Kruger ‘s soft stance on crime.

He said: ‘Danny Kruger‘s comments are a useful addition to the general debate about youth crime but I don‘t wholly agree.

‘The Hug-a-Hoodie speech was a general theme not a policy. It was about shifting attitudes to show we‘re not a mean-spirited party.

‘People who commit youth crime are affected by many social ills which come to a head in their individual cases.

‘The old Tory attitude of lock 'em up has to be mediated.

‘We have to get them before they become criminals but that doesn't mean they should be allowed to run amok either.'
