A jury at Luton Crown Court was told how Neil Abrams was relentlessly kicked and punched by the pair in Leighton Buzzard on August 5.

A 'peacemaker' who tried to break up a fight during a night out was killed from injuries sustained during an unprovoked attack by two youths, a court heard today. (Neil Abrams)

He had apparently tried to end a fight that had involved a group of his friends and the father of one of the defendants.

It is alleged Luke Elliott, 20, from Thrift Road, Heath and Reach, attacked Mr Abrams after his father was injured in the fight.

The court heard how he and his accomplice, a 16-year-old from Leighton Buzzard, kicked and punched Mr Abrams in 'revenge'.

'It was a joint attack. Neil Abrams was punched, he fell to the ground and in the course of falling to the ground he hit his head with some considerable force to the back of it.

'Luke Elliott then continued to attack with stamps or kicks to his head while he lay on his back unconscious.'

The court heard Mr Abrams was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead three days later on August. The cause of death was given as raised intercranial pressure due to the injuries he had received.
